Author Event: It's Santastic!

This past Thursday in Pages, we had an author event by a gentleman whose official title is"Corresponding Santa Claus"...and he has been answering children's Christmas wishlists for the past 58 years and still going strong. Grover C. Gouker, author of My Santamental Journey and I Don't Want No Soap came to the store and was gracious enough to sign several copies of his books in a bagged highly seasonal set. There are several pictures with this gentlemen and he completely charmed our staff right off of their feet, not to mention the awstruck little boy and his mother that popped in unsuspectingly into the store and discovered a man who had been to the north pole! Though several of his books sets were sold to happy customers there are still plenty left, and they are perfect for the holiday season in the upcoming months!

Shelf Talker: The Enchantress of Florence

By Salman Rushdie.

One word: spellbinding. Rushdie is a master story teller and makes sure that his most recent work does not disappoint. I highly recommend for anyone who craves a story that is reminiscent of Arabian Nights. Brilliant and colorful, filled with characters that draw you unerringly into the tale itself until you are almost panting to know exactly what happens to the title character. It is no wonder that this tale is currently on the bestseller list.
